LM Institute exists because...

We believe discipleship can and should happen primarily in the context of the local church. Our goal is to make the Bible and theology accessible to everyone through transformative learning environments within the church.

"Where God’s Word is, there is God Himself, there God’s Spirit is at work, there God establishes His covenant, there He plants His church."

-HERMAN BAVINCK

Why LM Institute?

LM Institute exists to answer the question, “How can the local church effectively form disciples through transformational learning environments?” LMI seeks to do that through a variety of environments, from one-time forums to a year-long intensive discipleship program, all centered on Gospel story, Gospel beliefs and Gospel formation.

There are many things that are nice for disciples, through LM Institute we want to pursue what we believe is necessary for disciples—for all disciples: bible, doctrine, and spiritual formation.

We’re excited that you’re interested in LM Institute! Our hope is that participation in LMI will lead to deeper love of God, His Word and others, increased biblical and theological formation, and greater passion and preparation for missional living.

Learn. Know. Apply.

LEARN God’s story through His Word.

In order to understand who God is, you become more familiar with the Bible and what He has done to reconcile the world to Himself in the person and work of Jesus Christ.

KNOW how that story informs your beliefs.

As you learn more about God through His Word, you also think through major biblical doctrines and how, as a result, your beliefs are shaped by them.

APPLY those beliefs to every sphere of your life.

With biblical knowledge and rightly rooted beliefs, you live out God’s story in your day-to-day, becoming a mature disciple of Jesus Christ.

Core Classes

Believers need good foundations to grow.  LM Institute offers three Core Classes to help people internalize their faith and connect it practically to everyday life. Our Core Classes are for everyone, and can be taken in any order.  We hope all LMBC members and regular attenders will go through them at some point.
"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."

Bible Studies

THE BIBLE IS FOR EVERYONE
"The Bible was composed in such a way that as beginners mature, its meaning grows with them."
AUGUSTINE
How well do you know your Bible? In a time when Christians enjoy unprecedented access to teaching, the temptation to passively consume content can be strong. Our Bible Studies are designed to draw you into active learning of our sacred text.
Unlike our Core Classes, which are a one-time commitment, our Bible Studies provide a continuous opportunity to learn the Bible in community. They walk line-by-line through entire books of the Bible from start to finish, with the goal of training you to comprehend, interpret, and apply the text in a way that yields transformation. Employing the three key elements of personal study, group discussion, and teaching time (in that order), our Bible Studies cultivate both biblical literacy and rich community in the context of active and dedicated learning environments.

Starting in Summer/Fall of 2022...

Starting in Summer/Fall of 2022, LM Institute will begin offering Men’s and Women’s Bible Studies taught by gifted, passionate, and committed communicators of God’s Word. These studies will cover the same book of the Bible for both men and women, run concurrently, and usually last 11 weeks. The cost will be $30. A workbook will be provided the first week. There will be 1-2 hours of homework per week.

The Advanced Course

Find your place in God’s story
"The church is the natural soil of theology."
HERMAN BAVINCK
We believe the future of theological education is in the church. If you desire to know more about God, His story and how you fit into it, The Advanced Course is for you. Throughout this year-long discipleship program, you’ll learn to participate in God’s story through His Word. You will learn how God's story informs your beliefs and how to apply those beliefs to every sphere of your life as you are sent out as a disciple of Jesus Christ to your neighbors and the nations
Course Duration
The program lasts one year, with a fall semester (August–December) and a spring semester (January–May). Class sessions are comprised of lecture, cohort discussion and formation exercises. We realize The Advanced Course is a big commitment, and we ask all participants to attend each week and complete any work required outside of class time.
Program Costs
The Advanced Course is open to anyone in the church who wants to be involved. The cost of the program is $250. The program is primarily for Covenant Members of Lost Mountain Baptist Church but regular attenders at LMBC are encouraged to apply if interested. Limited scholarships are available; please contact us for more information.
Curriculum
The program’s curriculum seeks to equip believers in three areas of discipleship—Gospel story, Gospel belief and Gospel formation. By weaving these three elements together, we employ a holistic approach to discipleship, where men and women have the opportunity to grow in their love for God, Scripture and God’s mission.

*Applications for our initial 2022-2023 Advanced Course will open April 1, 2022 and close May 15, 2022.*
