I was born and raised in a Christian home in Chattanooga, TN. I came to know Christ at the age of nine. The next year I found out I had severe Scoliosis. I wore a brace for over three years and ended up having surgery. An 18 inch rod was placed along my spine in 1978 to straighten it out some and I grew three inches during surgery. During those years of my life, it was very difficult. People did not want to have anything to do with me due to the brace and body cast I wore. God used this time in my life to strengthen my faith. I learned to trust and depend on him wholly.
I have an Early Childhood Education degree and attended both Chattanooga State and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Preschool has been a life-long love and the Lord lead me from teaching to directing. After teaching for 11 years and having my own in-home daycare for over three years, I began directing in the Child Development Center of Roswell Street Baptist Church. The Lord lead me to Lost Mountain Baptist in August 1998 when I began questioning him as a mother of what he would have me do next. He answered my prayer as I became the Director of the Weekday Preschool.
My husband, Scott, and I met on a blind date and have been married for 29 years. We have two sons, Edward (25 years old) and Timothy (20 years old). My favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13, ” I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
