About Pastor Rusty
A little about your family?
My wife, Alisa and I have been married for 21 years. We met in college through the introduction of her father and we have been together ever since. We have 4 children; a daughter in college, a son in high school, a son in middle school and a daughter in elementary school. We have a big, busy family and we would not want it any other way.
My hometown is Arcadia, Florida. The land is flat, the weather is hot and the people live a simple life. The orange groves and cow pastures are as far as you can see. A small town is good for the soul. It keeps me grounded, remembering who I am and where I came from. I’m reminded of my late father, Robert Womack Sr. who once said, “God must love the common man more than anybody because he made the most of us.” This has taught me to just be me. And … I’m OK with that.

Why be a Senior Pastor?
That is a good question, I have asked it myself. However, God called me in the summer 1993. I have tried to follow His calling ever since. God has called me to lead and feed His people and it all started while I was in college. I pastored in college and in seminary. After my education God called me to pastor in Florida, then in Atlanta, and finally here to Lost Mountain. I am willing to do whatever God calls me to do and so far it is to shepherd His people.
How do you spend your free time?
What free time? We have 4 kids!!! I love to spend time with my wife and kids. I love to work in our yard and I enjoy the occasional round of golf.
What is your favorite book/book recommendations?
Pray the Bible by Don Whitney. This book is so helpful! It helps people pray God’s Will and Word, instead of praying the same old things about the same old things. It is transforming the prayer lives of the people of Lost Mountain.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
Healer! Why? Jada, that’s why. My cousin Jada has a form of Downs Syndrome. This has left her mentally challenged. Jada’s life helps me be more sensitive to others. When I see someone that has a mental or physical challenge, I think of Jada. There have been days where I wish I could go to a hospital, especially for children and young people, and move from bed to bed and heal them. However, there are days I think I have it all wrong. The physically and mentally challenged do not need to be like us. We need to be like them. Jada is sweet, thoughtful and has a child like faith … need I say more.
When did you first come to Lost Mountain?
I came to Lost Mountain in 2011. As I start my sixth year here I am more excited than ever about God’s people and His work.
